The kids have been serenading us today with some great renditions of older rock songs on Guitar Hero.
Ben is currently belting out; "Carry on my way weird son..." His own version of Kansas' hit.
... Rock on, Ben, rock on.
Patience is not about how long someone can wait... It's about how well they behave while they wait.

The World According to Ben
.
We have decided to put quotes by Ben here in the post section instead of at the top of the page. It was sad that we would lose the last one when a new one would be put up... and really, he has so much more material than I could post up there.... no one would ever get to see them.
This way we can be sure everyone who stops by has a chance to read his pearls of wisdom and be inspired..... or appalled, which ever way you roll.
So on to the good stuff:
Spontaneous conversation in the car. (Cars are great for that).
Ben: "Are hobos real?"
Us: "Well... what do you think a hobo is?"
Ben: "Someone who lives on a bench."
After a short explanation of homelessness, and some ideas of how you could avoid such a fate....
Ben: "Well I don't want a job, I would be afraid of getting fired."
Us: "You don't have to be afraid of that, because you would work hard..." etc, etc.
Ben: Blurting out, "I would get fired!" and then, "I like to pick my nose!"....
Now I'm not entirely sure if that was an explanation on his part or just him moving on to another enthusiastic subject.... either way, it ended the conversation.
--------------------------
When asked by someone if Ben was going to join the military when he grows up....
He replied "not the Army, but maybe the submarines."

The good, the bad and the ugly...
Well, first the ugly..... Our retirement plans ground to a halt the other day when it was discovered that the red tape jungle had held up our paperwork too long to keep moving forward. So now we must start over again.
The bad.... Our move will be pushed back about 7 months.
The good.... The Obama administration has pushed through a change in policy that should keep us from getting stop lossed with this delay. Without that we would be looking at two more years and another deployment.
We are coming to terms with our changed situation and thankful it isn't worse than it is. Our focus now is on our new plan, and looking forward to retiring and moving the end of March.
"There's gotta be a pony in here somewhere!"
