Patience is not about how long someone can wait... It's about how well they behave while they wait.

A very happy halloween

Here are the little gremlins.

We got to Walmart early and picked a spot that ended up being the first in line.  David worked really hard in the bed of the truck setting everything up.  We had lights on the "trees" that did not show up well in the picture.  The pumpkins were all lit as well.

Myranda passed out candy to all the kids.  Boy were there a lot of kids.  I sure am glad the store supplied the candy!  We got a lot of nice compliments on the decorations.

The best part was the skull on the stump by the "horseless, headless horseman".  It is paired with a microphone which David had in the cab of the truck where he could not be seen.  It was so fun to see the kid's expressions (and some of the adults) when they realized the skull was actually talking to them.

We had a great time and hope you all had a Happy Halloween as well!

The Prep...

We love Halloween.  Pumpkins, costumes, candy... what could be better?  This year since I work at Walmart we are part of the Trunk or Treat in the parking lot.  Associates decorate their "trunks" and Walmart supplies the candy.  This morning was dedicated to carving the pumpkins.

Ben drew his own jack o lantern pattern and we put some glowing eyeballs in the eye sockets.

I carved the owl and David freehanded the eye.

Myranda did a great job on the spooky spider.

I had to include a shot of these skelly hands I made.  I was pretty proud of them as they were my first attempt.  I loved making them and see more skelly stuff in the future.  They were made with Crayola model magic and tips from David Lowe.

They did the mash

Myranda went to the halloween dance at the middle school last night.  She was a Narcoblix (she assures me that this is a certain type of vampire from a book she has read that can control people while they sleep).
creepy

Although I was asleep when she got home, she says she had a wonderful time... I guess it was "a grave yard smash" afterall.

I LOVE this!

Ok people, start sending me babies right now!

A few things...

1).  Bubbles are fun for big kids too.

2). Myranda wrote and performed a song about the Navajo Indians' struggles, as they were forced to change, to fit into the world created by the white man.  She did a great job and I would have loved to post the video, but it's too large.

3).  Benjamin received his Bobcat patch at the Pack meeting this past week.  I got to pin it on his shirt.
(upside-down until he does a good deed).

Snack time is a favorite among the cub scouts.

But it's on sale!

So we had a day down in Spokane today.  We were looking for a couple of specific things for gifts and stumbled on some other deals as well.  Could not believe a couple of discounts we found today!  As we were climbing into the car after our last stop before David's appointment at the VA Hospital, I was going over how much we saved on the various purchases.

David:  "Yeah well I hope we don't save any money tomorrow, I can't afford it."

Chicken tooth?

Tonight David brought out this tiny fang to show the kids.

Myranda pipes up with "Oh is that a chicken tooth or a kitty tooth?"

After the laughter died down, I asked her if chicken have teeth... She says they don't, so I still don't know why she asked her question in the first place... I don't understand a lot about my kids.

The little tooth is actually from our kitten, Tiana.

Food from our yard

Last night, David turned these apples from our tree...

Into this yummy pie!  It was really good.

A Fashion Disaster

It's homecoming week up here, as I imagine it is in a lot of towns.  All the schools get into it and the middle school was having "Fashion Disaster" day.  Our girl is of course full of silliness school spirit and here is the result.
