Patience is not about how long someone can wait... It's about how well they behave while they wait.

The World According to Ben

Ben's cub scout den had an outing to the police department on Thursday.  One of the things they got to learn about was fingerprinting.  Each scout got to have a card done with their fingerprints... just like a real criminal!  Or just like someone applying for a government job.  ;)

Today I found the card and was looking at my little guys prints... when I noticed that he had filled out the top portion with his name by himself.  *proud*

Wait a minute....

Me: "Ben did you write your name on this card yourself?"

Ben: *blushing* "Yes"

Me: "How did you spell your middle name?.... Wait, did you think your middle name was DING?!"

Ben: *sheepish giggling* "Yes, I did."

Me: !!! "Wait... does that mean you thought Grandpa's name was..."

Ben: "Yeah, Grandpa Ding."

So, David of course had noticed this problem on Thursday after Ben had filled out his name, and they had already had this same conversation.  Say "Ding", and "Dean" out loud and you can surely see how he made the mistake.  Is my little guy not the CUTEST ever!!?

We all had a good giggle out of it and I wanted to share it with everyone to give you all a smile.  But please, no teasing him later, as he was worried when I said I wanted to post this story to the blog.

Halloween 2011

Ben came down with a case of Lycanthropy

Myranda was a Narcoblix... again =P

We passed out candy at the Walmart Trunk or Treat.
Our Hansel and Gretel theme netted us second place.

The kids and I carved the pumpkins.  It was a lot of fun.  We love Halloween and are already throwing around ideas for next years trunk or treat decoration!

A bit of sun and some mostly clean children

The sun was out, and they combed their hair.  I love my wonderful, beautiful kids and had to share.

Homecoming week 2011

It was Homecoming week for Kettle Falls last week.  The high school students celebrated all week with dress up days, the big football game on Friday and a dance on Saturday night.

We tried to snap a pic of Myranda each day before school to share with everyone.

Monday was Mismatched day

Tuesday was Super Hero day... She was Raven from Teen Titans

Wednesday was Flashback day  (My favorite)  LOL

Thursday was Celebrity day... She was going as Amy Lee (lead singer of Evanescence)

Friday was Blue and Gold day (School colors)

The Choir practicing before the game

The Choir performing the Star Spangled Banner just before the game.  They did a really, really awesome job!

Here is our baby girl, all dressed up for her night at the dance

She had a great time at the dance, but wished she had chosen a cocktail length dress as it was quite hot.  She looked so pretty and it was so refreshing to see her wear pink again... she has been shunning that color for awhile, but went for it with this dress.  She danced a lot with her friends, sang along to all the songs and is growing up waaaay too fast... any idea how I can turn back the clock about a decade?

High School! and Third Grade! Wait, what?!!

Yesterday I took my baby girl to Frosh Orientation.  She knew I really, really wanted a picture of her out front, so allowed it quickly after everyone else had left.

"Ok, did you get it?"

"Maahhm!"

Here my babies are this morning... all ready for the first day of High School and Third Grade... I can't believe it!!

Ben's teacher this year is Mrs. Price.  She seemed nice and his classroom looked really great.  It is in a different building than he has been in the past two years and his classroom has a door right into the Library.  Very cool.

I stopped by to visit my honey and cry on his shoulder about our little ones being so grown up.

don't forget to scroll down

I know I don't update often since I am working a lot.  But on my day off I try and get a post or two or more up.  If you see one update, don't forget to scroll down below it, there might be another.

Cakes

I got to be the cake decorator at the bakery for five days.  I took David's camera phone the first day as I knew I would be doing a custom cake with a monkey (customer brought in a picture of what they wanted) and I wanted to show David how it turned out.  Little did I know there would be a bigger surprise waiting for me.
After getting to work I noticed a note explaining a very detailed cake order given the night before for a Harry Potter cake.  The customer was very specific and there was a sketch of just what she wanted... Of course the cake she had seen was done in fondant and that started me worrying as we only have frosting.

I thought the scarf was going to be the hardest part and left it for last... but was happy with how it turned out.  The edible image was actually what gave me the most trouble as the printer we have is a real piece of %#*@

And then here is the monkey cake... I thought he turned out cute too, and he did look just like the picture they brought in.

I blacked out the kids names because I just didn't feel right leaving them on and putting them on the net since they aren't my kids and all.

I wish I had taken the camera phone to get a few shots of some of the other cakes I got to make.  I had a lot of fun and was really happy with how they turned out.  Especially the last day and a half I got to just make some really fun ones with lots of great colors and roses and the airbrush... I felt like a kid in a candy store.  lol

Silverwood

A few weekends ago we took the kids to Silverwood Theme Park.  They once again had earned tickets through a reading program at school.

They each picked a roller coaster they most wanted to ride and rode it together.   The first was the "Corkscrew" and Ben's pick.  There they are upsidedown in the front of the third car.

Myranda's pick was a wooden coaster called "Tremors".  David stood in the gift shop aiming the camera at a high window with a view of the big drop for 20- 30 minutes to get this shot.  The kids are in the front of the second car.

This is after the ride.  They would have ridden more roller coasters, but we really wanted to enjoy the water park more this year as the weather was nice and warm.

We went on several waterslides.  Some were solo some duo, and a new one where we all went on a big tube together, was my favorite.  No pictures of those though because the camera was in the locker staying safe and dry.

We do have some pics of the kids favorite water park fun... the wave pool.

If you get up this way and like water parks or roller coasters, Silverwood is the place to see.
