We had a torrential rainstorm a few hours ago.  Even some hail.  When we left to go get the kids from the bus stop we noticed the creek was absolutely swollen and muddy with the run off.

Bear Patch!

Ben received his Bear patch at cub scouts last night.  He also earned a gold and two silver arrow points for extra achievments. 

Way to go Ben!!

We are hoping that his cubscout den can get together a few times this summer and do some fun things.

Here is a bonus pic of the creek last night after we got home from the Scout meeting.  The snow melt really has it rushing.

Remember the truck that we only recently got back from the shop, with all that body work from the roll down the ditch into the tree?.... Did you know there were only two panels that didn't need painted from that wreck?

What panels were those you ask?  The two doors on the drivers side.... which now sport an imprint of the deer that ran into the truck while I was on my way to work.

Well the pics I took on family night came out pretty blurry, so I stole some off of another cast member's facebook page and thought I should post them here for those that don't frequent facebook that much.

The play is going really well, I can't wait to see it again!

Blue and Gold cake build

It's time again for the Blue and Gold Ceremony in cub scouts.  The boys in Webelos move up to boy scouts.  There is a big pot luck dinner and a cake auction.  The cub scouts and their Dads make the cakes and the auction is open to the community.  The money gained is shared with the local food bank.

This year, Ben and David wanted to make a castle cake.  There was much planning involved and lots of yummy fun.

They had a great idea for a moat made from candy chocolate rocks and blue Jello.

This is the "probable" finished cake... they had several more ideas they wanted to try, but after spending most of the day building and frosting they might be finished.

Guess who's 9!

Our little guy is growing up fast!

Really can't believe he is 9 already

His requested cake this year was similar to last years... He wanted a version of a picture he drew when he was younger and has had hanging on his wall.  Pretty much just a picture of the family with grass and sky.  The cake this year was white with lemon filling and buttercream frosting.  I made it at work so it was quite a bit easier with access to premixed colors and the airbrush.  I think he liked it.
