Oh my goodness....

We are finally in our home, and online once again.... what a roller coaster ride it was, or maybe I should say, is, since there is still so much to do.

Let's see if I can shorten all the crazyness into something coherant.

We drove from Kansas to Nevada and spent a few days there. Got to visit some family and friends and try and have some fun amidst all the stuff we had to get done.

Scott and Cody then made the trek up with us. We all stopped in Salt Lake and enjoyed a very brief but very enjoyable visit with Emily, Jim, Mira and Paul. I wish we could have visited more, and wish I could have toned down my stress level.

Finally when we all arrived at our place in Washington, I was very relieved to see that it was indeed still standing and had power. Scott helped David unload all the stuff we brought up from Nevada, and didn't even mind about not being able to take a shower.

After Scott and Cody left it was time for the well to be connected to the house.... man, that first hot shower was THE BEST! By the way, how much can a well cost? About 20k, that's how much. Of course we are lucky it wasn't more. And it is soooo good to have water. lol And as of today, since we got the test results back, we can even drink it! wooot

Once we had water, our furnace promptly decided to poop out on us. It gave us a chance to really get to know the wood burning stove during the week of 20 degree lows before the repair guy could fix it. mmmm I love that wood burning stove.

But now the furnace is fixed and we don't have to have a log on the fire every single minute of the day and night. Which is a real nice thing.

So... if you are keeping score, we have power (unless it's one of those darn "planned outages"), water, heat and internet! My stars, it's really feeling like home now. Oh and after a false start today, the installer for the satelite TV should be out on Friday.

We also got our tons of stuff delivered in about a million and a half boxes. We did find the beds so now we have those too. I can't tell you all how glad I am that we aren't looking at another move in 2-3 years. I wish I could have taken pics of the movers bringing it all in. But I was terribly busy hovering over the paperwork, marking off the numbered items as they came through the door. They did not want to pull the trucks (yes I said trucks) around back, so parked them down a bit in the driveway and had to hike every box and piece of furniture to the house and up the stairs as needed.

It looks like only a few things were broken, destroyed or missing... but we have had worse moves. There was only some minor damage to the house... and no blood... yes there has been blood in the past. Towards the end there even David and I just wanted it to all be over. lol

Now we are having the fun of sorting through all those boxes and trying to find everything. It's all a big surprise. Like the box we opened this morning with the sole marking of "Christmas sled" on the side. Granted there was a small wooden sled in the box... but also a laptop computer, and I think one shoe....
