Patience is not about how long someone can wait... It's about how well they behave while they wait.

The never ending job

Oh my goodness.... I am tired of sorting.

Sorting, clothing.... seasonal, for fit, stains, tears.... and then again for laundry.

Sorting paper. Papers that came in the mail and got stacked. Papers that came home with the kids. Papers that have something on them that I feel I need to save for what ever reason. Papers that have something on them that I felt I needed to save for what ever reason at one time but now see that it was rediculous. Papers, papers, papers.

How many little plastic or metal bits of what not can there possibly be in this house. Things that might be a screw or a clamp or somthing that must go to something else that would probably be rendered useless if that little bit is thrown away.

There is a "thing" basket by the front door. A "thing" basket on my desk. A "thing" drawer in the kitchen. A "thing" shelf in the bedroom. And still more "thing" piles here, there and everywhere than I care to think about.

I'm stressing over the packers coming into the house and finding all the little stacks and piles of who knows what that somehow got stuck who knows where. So we are sorting. And sorting. And sorting. And we have made some great progress. Bags have gone to the trash, the goodwill store, and are awaiting a yard sale.

But somehow the house looks worse now. And we are whooped.

And wth does this little plastic piece of whatever go to... and why is it here?

More Fort Riley fun

We went to an event last friday and had a lot of fun. The news article about it has a picture of someone you might recognize.

Bowling for soup.... and everclear

We thought this was too funny not to share. The roads out the gates of Fort Riley often have signs reminding us of upcoming events.

I saw a sign somewhere else today with some further information. While driving by I was able to glean that it's actually the musical group not the alcohol that's involved with the event. =P
Update! Bowling for Soup is also a musical group. Rofl!

Fun with paint programs

I was having too much fun playing with some of the photos I was editing from our trip to Missouri. Here is what I accomplished instead of doing laundry this afternoon.

Summer in Missouri

We had a great time visiting in Missouri. It's been a real blessing that we were finally close to family this tour. It is really the only thing I can think of that will be sad about moving. But we have secured promises of visits for the future, and I can look back on some great pics of the kids having a wonderful time together.

I'm going to try and not think about how much bigger Alli will be when we next get to see her in person.

She really seemed to enjoy playing with Myranda and Ben and they were of course all too happy to spend as much time with her as they could. I think there was also just something so fun about playing with all those brightly colored "baby toys".... but mostly it was the urge to make that cute little girl smile and laugh.

We got to have lots of pool time as well, which was WONDERFUL considering how hot and humid it was. I had hoped to post a video clip of the pool fun as well, but I'm having problems with conversions and other computer nonsense that just gets in my way. lol

Here is a great pic of Geoff and Alli havin fun in the sun.

Where the wild things were

What could be better than an event with free bouncy; castles, slides and obsticle courses. Facepainting, music and fireworks? I just don't know... but here are some of the after effects. Five hours later peeling paint and big grins.

Recipe for contentment

Mountains + Marshmallow + Graham cracker + Chocolate = One happy, happy boy.
